Bringing history to life

So, my kids absolute hate doing history, yet they love being very creative and my son, especially, is very fascinated with how movies are made and wishes to be a producer. My daughter is a writer and an aspiring author. So to combine their uniques interests with history I am having them write a script for an event in history that we are studying. Then my son will direct the production of it, using our camcorder. Then with our computer it can be edited, etc.

This is a long project, but includes many aspects of what my children love. Writing, movies, art(designing scene backdrops), acting, sewing (costume designs, etc.) Plus our whole family is involved. We are going to 'recruit' our children's friends as additional characters to play in the movie, which also adds to the element of fun/play vs. just ol' boring history.
